About water service in Rome
Rome is home. Our only office is on Kingston Highway, and Rome and Northwest Georgia are where most of our customers are. You will find our machines at Atrium Health Floyd, AdventHealth Redmond, Ball Corporation, Suzuki Manufacturing of America and Darlington School. As Neil Gordon of Atrium Health Floyd put it, "Atrium Health Floyd was proud to partner up with BWS."
The same office covers the towns around Floyd County: Calhoun, where Mannington's offices run BWS dispensers, plus Cedartown, Rockmart and Chatsworth. Downtown Rome, the Riverside Parkway corridor and the industrial parks are minutes from our door, so filter changes and service calls stay local. Water-only coolers start at $35 a month and water + ice machines at $140, with install, filters and service included. There is no long-term contract, and you can start with a 7-day free trial.

what's in the water
Water quality in Rome
Rome Water & Sewer draws from two rivers, the Oostanaula and the Etowah, and treats both at the Bruce Hamler Water Treatment Facility. The rivers meet downtown to form the Coosa.
PFAS here has two sides, and both matter. The city's own report says the raw river water carries PFAS from carpet manufacturing upstream around Dalton, and Rome is building a reverse-osmosis plant to remove it. In 2024 testing, the treated tap water was non-detect for PFOA and PFOS. EPA limits on those two compounds phase in over the next several years. A BWS reverse-osmosis cooler adds its own multi-stage filtration at your break-room tap, and RO systems are designed to reduce PFAS.
